Adventure Letdowns @ Kisames Giraffe Camp

‘An ideal team building facility complete with a ropes program, zip lines and paint ball.’

…or so goes the tag-line for Kisames Giraffe Camp.

Located at only 15 km from Ngong Town, Kisames makes a perfect spot for outdoor fanatics, more so that it’s in proximity to the infamous Ngong Hills and of course, the highly reputed nyama choma zone at Ole Polos.

I had done a high ropes challenge at Diguna in Rongai, and Zip-lining at The Forest.  So when someone mentioned that Kisames has them all, and more challenging, I was ALL IN.
When you hear of a Giraffe Camp, first thing that comes to mind is, a haven of giraffes.  Interestingly, there is not a single giraffe at the camp.  Only countable ones that you’ll need binoculars to spot in far away bushes.

Hiking Up, Down & Around The Breezy Hills Of Ngong’

In every small neighbourhood, is a hidden gem, that locals take for granted, but tourists travel far to experience.

This is the case, or rather relationship, I always had with the famous Ngong Hills.
Their picturesque backdrop is inarguably the first thing that caught my eye six years ago, when I moved here.  And my vow,

I’ll have to hike those hills over the weekend.’

The weekend never came.  I kept postponing and postponing and that first weekend turned to month, then months, and later years.

The Keraita Experience: Ziplining at E. Africa's Longest Zipline

As of June 2018, Ziplining is the 2nd most adrenaline-pumping adventure I have ever done.
Obviously, the best place to zipline in Kenya is at Keraita Forest/The Forest - for many reasons.

Top on the list is, it's the longest zipline in East Africa, covering a distance totaling 2.22km.

Unleashing Your Action Fury at Rolf's Place PaintBall Arena

Being such a huge fan of action films, shooting guns (for fun) has always been a dream.
I looked up shooting ranges in Kenya but none came up.
Closest to that was paint-balling.

Paintball is an insane thrill that's best played far away from human activity - so e had to travel all the way to Rolf's place in Ongata Rongai/Kitengela.
From the outlook, nothing seems exciting.

9 Must-Carry Snacks for your Next Day Adventure

For so long, you’ve been dying to take a peep into and possibly become addicted to the wilder side of life.

Go hiking, mountain climbing, camping, boat riding, zip lining, rock climbing, spelunking…

And now, all is set but the nourishers (sic) of thy stomach.

What should you pack?

Going by my modus operandi, I ALWAYS pick a tour agent/operator whose package includes a late hot lunch ideally with some fried mbuzi on the menu.  That way, I don’t have to stress about rumbling and acid-burning stomach.

That though comes much later in the day and in the meantime, you ought to feed yourself.  In essence, this is what my snack pack includes:

INTO THE GATES OF HELL AND THE DEVIL’S BEDROOM

Going by its name, Hell’s Gate could be the scariest place to be at, though in reality, it’s the most beautiful, scenic and breath-taking wilderness to explore.
My journey on this wild side of Naivasha begun at the Elsa Gate (the alternate entry point is at the Olkaria Gate).

One on One with the FACE behind KEITAN SAFARIS

With tens of thousands graduating from Kenyan Universities annually, the last thing these graduates expect is getting an 8-5 job that pays KSh. 10,000 per month.
That’s the reality that hit 23 year old Kevin Owino, a Tourism Management graduate from Maasai Mara University.  Popularly known as Keitan, he is the perfect motivation to look up to when exiting  white collar slavery and embracing a no-collar entrepreneurship mentality.

HIKING THE LONGONOT & S'thing about Overcoming Theft, Cramps & Hailstones

Isn’t it stunningly breathtaking?
’I don’t get why people claim hiking this rim is torturous.’  Until the 29th January 2017, those, like everyone else, were my thoughts.

THRILL OF A LIFETIME - Water Rafting at the Sagana

Raging waters, dangerous water animals, probable drowning, wild animals roaming freely into your tent in the dead of the night…  If these are the kinds of things that gets you thrilled, you definitely need to give a shot at water sporting events, or, to be more specific, white water rafting.

Lake Naivasha, Lake Oloiden and The Crater Lake's Magical Sights & Moments

Before I get too old, money becomes too scarce, time becomes too limited and excuses start pilling up, I’ve decided to spare one weekend per month to explore the beauties of Kenya.  On 30th October, I started with the famous Naivasha coz, as you probably already know, Naivasha is the home of endless wonders.
